Client: Therapeutic Clown Program
PROJECT: Corporate Video for the Therapeutic Clown Program at Sick Kids Hospital
Filter Five worked with the Therapeutic Clown Program to produce a video to promote awareness of the program and to show potential donors. Filter Five’s Producer and Director of Photography Jesse Morgan spent days at the hospital doing still photography, interviews and gathering HD video footage to produce a touching multimedia piece.
“Filming in an environment like SickKids is a challenge. Not only must we comply with the consent policies of the hospital and Public Affairs, more importantly, we must respect the privacy and circumstances of those families and staff we film. Sensitivity to infection control issues, medical equipment and the condition of the patients is a must.
Working with Jesse on this project was a pleasure. Together, we created a plan so that Jesse could get the footage he needed while also meeting our program’s objectives. He understood the limitations that we had to work within and found a way to do so. Jesse never comprised a child, or their situation, in order to get that “good shot”. He was pleasant and respectful with the patients and staff and was very good with the children he filmed. In two situations in particular, Jesse took the time to show the children how his camera worked and answered their questions. In those situations when children appeared apprehensive or fearful of the camera, Jesse sensed this immediately and removed it. Our therapeutic clowns felt very comfortable working with Jesse, knowing that what we do would be represented authentically.”
